Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair and overhaul division of United. The department includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.
Job overview and responsibilities
A Technical Planner - Aircraft Base Maintenance plays a critical role in the planning, scheduling and validating of aircraft maintenance for United and airframe vendors. A planner must be knowledgeable about his/her fleet and accountable for the delivery of maintenance packages and meeting planned exit dates. Role responsibilities include managing aircraft heavy maintenance inductions; facilitating aircraft exits, sales, and lease returns; and partnering with operations, maintenance programs, engineering, aircraft records, and other stakeholders. A planner is strategic in driving results in consideration of changing station capabilities and labor, materials and tooling inputs.
Build maintenance work packages for the assigned fleet within work scope and budgeted labor hours, span and cost.
Coordinate aircraft inductions, exits, records, and task escalations.
Review hangar plan to ensure the accuracy and on-time build of all work packages for base maintenance aircraft, stored aircraft and aircraft exiting the fleet.
Perform reviews of all deferred maintenance and recommend actions in accordance with required skills, equipment, facilities, labor, and special support.
Communicate clearly and proactively to stakeholders about revisions, special requirements, workload additions, and deletions to base maintenance events.
Foster collaboration and share internal best practices with team and stakeholders
Prepare and deliver presentations on fleet maintenance performance to leadership
2 years technical experience
High school diploma
Knowledge of electronic maintenance management system
Ability to interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and programs
Analytical and problem solving ability
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
Knowledge of aircraft systems operation
Experience working with SCEPTRE
Experience with Package Writer and LPS systems
Solid presentation skills
Advance in Microsoft Excel
FAA Airframe and Powerplant License
2 years aircraft maintenance experience; business management experience
