Technical Operations

Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair and overhaul division of United. The department includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Technical Operations Analytics team is looking for a passionate Associate Analyst to turn data into information and information into insight to drive business decisions. The group strives to get the right work done on the right aircraft at the right location at the right time. To do this, we partner with business owners to pursue analytical opportunities within different operational areas.

We are seeking creative, driven, and detail-oriented individuals who enjoy tackling complex problems quantitatively. Individuals who have a desire to improve the performance of United's fleet and maintenance operation are encouraged to apply.

• Mine data and provide accurate information, identify key issues and trends, apply rigorous analysis

• Review existing reports, dashboards, and performance indicators to modify, enhance, and develop new reports and metrics

• Extract data from a variety of sources for use in analysis and models; complete ad-hoc reporting and data analysis

• Continuously develop and demonstrate improved analysis methodologies This position is offered on local terms and conditions within United’s wholly owned subsidiary United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Required

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• Analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information

• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)

• Comfort with ambiguity

• Superior attention to accuracy and detail

• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship

• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

• Certificates/ additional degrees in a quantitative field

• Familiarity with relational database structures

• Comfort with and an intellectual curiosity for working with very large data sets

• Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships

• Understanding of airline maintenance operations

• Experience in querying relational databases using SQL (Teradata, Microsoft, Oracle, MySQL, etc.)

• Visualize data using one or more reporting tools – Spotfire / Tableau

• 0-2 years of experience in analytics
