The Catering Operations department develops, creates and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft.

Senior Manager – Finance and Administration – Catering Operations

Location: Newark (EWR)

Job overview and responsibilities

Leads the development and implementation of effective financial controls and administrative support at the catering unit. Partners and drives kitchen leadership teams to assess needs, recommend, implement, coordinate and evaluate sound business processes. Ensures that all above processes are integrated and coordinated across the various business units. Works with other local & corporate teams to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions, including enhancements for overall process improvement. Directs the analysis of performance trends and champions alternatives to ensure sound business management at the kitchen.

Financial Oversight & Contract Management:

  • Includes annual budget, monthly forecast, monthly close, internal controls, variance analysis, capital planning, AFE preparation, NPV/ROI analysis, RFP's, negotiation of contracts, validation of payment terms, PO's, invoicing, processing of payments, hold business partners accountable for operational performance

Hub Staffing/Manpower management:

  • Includes manpower requirements, review of monthly staffing needs, daily manpower updates, vacation bidding, attendance counseling, productivity reporting, hours reporting, payroll, all updates in ETA including exception cards, outages, etc.

Business/Employee Relationship Development:

  • Interface will all department leaders, development of management team, review of work assignments, working cross divisionally with Finance, Internal Audit, Technology, HR, Legal and Procurement

  • Builds or participates in the development of simulation models to identify customer / operational impact

  • Highly experienced and has decision-making authority within broad guidelines

  • He/she is self-sufficient, requires no direct supervision on projects and mentors/coach’s others

  • Interfaces with all levels of employee groups, frontline to Senior leaders

  • Proactively seek out opportunities on process improvement for department and field organizations

  • Proactively identifies opportunities to reduce service defects and cost to serve

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience

  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office

  • Analytical, problem solver, and has aptitude in measurement, assessment, and evaluation

  • Capacity/staffing modeling experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • 2-4 years of professional managerial/ supervisory experience

  • High level of analytical ability

  • 2 years of Finance, Accounting or Internal Audit experience

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Bachelors in a quantitative or operations related field (ex: engineering, statistics, math, business, economics, etc.)

  • MBA

  • Food safety knowledge

  • Purchasing experience with food and related kitchen operational supplies

  • Food manufacturing experience
